Josh Crosbie Architects is a bespoke practice based in Lorne on the Great Ocean Road. We believe coastal architecture should blend into the landscape and compliment nature rather than dominate it. It is an opportunity to turn a simple desire for retreat and a connection to nature into a physical home that feels like it belongs there. 

We love the challenge of working on the most demanding sites- whether we are navigating bushfire risk, steep hillsides, or complex planning regulations. They are the starting points for a design that truly celebrates the patch of earth it stands on.

We offer a full range of services tailored to what you need: from pre-purchase advice and feasibility studies to the initial concept and town planning. We also handle the technical details of documentation, tendering and project management.

Our commitment to balance doesn't stop at the front door. We believe in looking after the environment that inspires us, which is why our practice has been powered by accredited Green energy for the past ten years.

We also believe in supporting the global community. For over a decade, we have been proud to provide ongoing support to several organisations: Save the Children, the Australian Conservation Foundation, Greenpeace, and Médecins Sans Frontières. 

The People Behind the Designs

Our Director, Josh Crosbie, brings a rare perspective to the table. He studied both Architecture and Construction Management Honours at Deakin University in Geelong, which means his designs balance flare with practicality and buildability. Josh is still very much hands-on, often working as a project manager to ensure every detail is right.

For Josh and his family, life revolves around adventures along this coastline and in the mountains. His children attend the local school, and you will often find them surfing, hiking, camping, rock climbing or snowboarding together. This love for the bush and the beach is the same energy we bring to every project we touch.

We also believe that the peace we design for our clients should be felt by our team too. To keep our culture healthy and balanced, our staff enjoy a four-day work week. This ensures we always arrive at the drawing board with fresh eyes and a calm mind.
